“GEG Youth Achievement Program” Closing Ceremony; “Together” Group Awarded Vietnam Study Tour

- 4. In addition to this year’s “Community Awareness – Group Award” and “Career Mapping – Individual Award,” a group of outstanding participants were presented “Top 10 Best Performance Award” in recognition of their significant contributions.

Sept 1, 2015 – Co-organized by Macau Management Association (“MMA”) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”), the 4th “GEG Youth Achievement Program” was concluded successfully and on Tuesday, a closing ceremony was held at StarWorld Hotel. The group formed by six participants named “Together” won in the final project and awarded a six-day study tour in Vietnam sponsored by GEG. Outstanding participants were also awarded with certificates and prizes in the ceremony.
The closing ceremony was attended by the guests of honor including Mr. Pu Hailong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Culture and Education of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Ms. Li Nan, Director-General of the Department of Public Diplomacy and Information of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Macau SAR, Ms. Leong Lai, Director of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Mr. Lau Wai Meng, Acting Director of Labour Affairs Bureau, Mr. Paul Tse, Council Vice Chairman and Honorary Secretary General of MMA and Mr. Alex Mok, Council Vice Chairman and Honorary Treasurer of MMA. They were also joined by Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG and Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG, in witnessing the achievements of the participants.
“The Program is filling a vital need of the community, rendering Macau prepared for the future development. We are glad to see that more and more participants are involving themselves into it,” said Mr. Paul Tse during his speech. Meanwhile, Mr. Philip Cheng said, “The Program commenced from February this year and for the past six months, the participants have undertaken a series of activities including community service, workshops and leadership program to explore their potentials and provide knowledge and skills for their career development in the future.”
The most anticipated moment of the ceremony was the reveal of the winners of the final project, who would entitle to a six-day study tour in Vietnam with round-trip air tickets and hotel accommodations. “Together”, formed by Hoi Ka Kit, Cheong Ka Man, Lou Chi Weng, Ngan Chek Hou, Chio Chi On and Leong Chan Pang, was named the champion. The study tour in Vietnam will offer them a cultural exploration in the famous landmarks, accommodation in the traditional Vietnamese houses and an interaction opportunity with the local community.
The Program this year required participants to form their own teams and submit the final projects among three major themes which included discovering the amicable elements of Macau, exploring the career opportunities in Hengqin and promoting outdoor activities. In addition to the final project awards, the outstanding teams and individuals were also presented the awards namely “Community Awareness – Group Award” and “Career Mapping – Individual Award,” as well as “Top 10 Best Performance Award” in recognition of their initiatives and dedications. The “GEG Youth Achievement Program” has attracted near 1,400 youngsters aged between 18 and 29 until now. The Program composes a series of modules including training camps, workshops, community services and final projects for participants to excel their talents and broaden their social network. The champion will entitle to a study tour in Asia sponsored by GEG and for the past three years, they have been to Singapore, Cambodia and Sri Lanka to experience the lives abroad and increase the understanding on different cultures.
